Vassilis Stavrou was born in Greece (in Kato Athamanio of Arta) in 1951. He studied in The Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) with scolarship from I.K.Y from 1969 until 1974. He studied Drawing and Painting with Nikos Nikolaou and Lefteris Kanakakis as well as etching with Kostas Grammatopoulos. During his studies in ASFA  he was acquainted with the Master Giannis Moralis who expressed a special interest in his work. He graduated in 1974 with praise for two of his works, “Head” and “nude in copperplate”. In parallel with Painting he is especially interested in Photography and Music.

  Traditional etching styles influenced his work at large allthough he had little involment with them. He’s been studying modern Printing and Photography techniques for thirty years and they are his main means of expression today.
